Lee Martinez Park

Just north of Old Town, Lee Martinez Park is an entertaining spot in Fort Collins. Just hop on your bikes and take the Poudre Trail right to the park. The playground is pretty small and often not that busy, but there’s plenty for the kids to do on the slides, swings, teeter totters and monkey bars. You’ll find lots of shade throughout the park from all the large trees as well as picnic shelters. Picnic tables set up around the playground which makes it easy on parents to watch the kids. There is fun for adults too with the 4 tennis courts, softball fields and it’s surrounded by walking trails.

What makes this park different from others in town is  The Farm right next to it. The Farm is almost like a small interactive zoo. They have sheep & goats for kids to feed; pigs, cows, horses, chickens to check out, and they offer fun activities like pony rides and hayrides. Kids can explore the barns, outbuildings, climb on farm equipment and learn a thing or two about agriculture. The Farm holds special events like Treatsylvania every Halloween, a safe place for kids under 10 to trick or treat and they have other programs like the ‘Pony Club’ and ‘Adopt An Animal.’

If your kids like more water features to cool off in the heat of the summer, this isn’t the park for that, but those are easy to find around Fort Collins. Check out  Spring Canyon Community Park or head to Oak Street Plaza and/or The Square in Old Town for some water fountain play. We are lucky to live in a community like Fort Collins with lots of activities for all ages!
